Time to get festive as Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year & President’s Day hit the calendar…

  • Bend & Breathe. New Year’s resolutions are officially a month behind us – time to reignite the engines – & the charkas. Treat your body & spirit to some prenatal, postnatal or baby yoga. Classes and intensity vary by instructor, but focus typically revolves around light stretching & breath work and options abound at  The Yoga Room, Waalay Yoga and Prenatal Plus Yoga. We’re particularly fond of Baby & Me yoga for some alternative interaction with the (not-yet-mobile) munchkins.
  • Nurture Your Motherly Nature. Wednesday afternoon work your massage fingers as physical therapist and yoga instructor Michelle Manianci leads a free Nurturing Moves class at Midtown Miami’s Music Together from noon to 1pm. Wear comfortable clothing and prep to explore infant massage, dance, developmental play and more. Free, but RSVP required, call 305-206-2229.
  • Think Pink.  Get a jump-start on Valentine’s Day by stringing together heart shaped pasta bracelets or getting creative with the finger paints for handmade cards or wrapping paper. Next, venture to the kitchen and bake up dessert pizza, sweet heart krispie treats or heart brownie cupcakes.
  • Tame the Tiger. Sunday marks Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Tiger. Get in the spirit by decorating the house with fresh flowers and planning a large family dinner (we love any excuse to get everyone around the table). Order in, prep at home or head out (we’re partial to Tropical Chinese) – traditional favorites include dumplings (resembling golden nuggets), oranges (symbolizing completeness & wholeness) and long noodles (symbolizing long life).
  • Weekend Plan. Three days of fun in the sun await as President’s Day rolls into town. Hit the high seas at the Miami International Boat Show, cuddle with your love ones on Valentine’s day, mingle with artists at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival or journey to the Design District for a Second Saturday Art & Design Night.
