Weekend Picks: July 2-5

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

It’s a festive, fireworks-filled weekend – and we’re focusing on the fourth. Lots of great ways to spend your Sunday…

  • Head to the Miami Children’s Museum for a July 4th festival featuring all the classics – art, watermelon, water games and (of course) a signing of the Declaration of Independence with Ben Franklin. Insider tip – admission discounts await for Florida and City of Miami residents.
  • Go old fashioned for Independence Day and venture to the Barnacle in the Grove. The Florida state park is hosting a traditional picnic complete with lawn games, kite-making and arts & crafts. Bring your own blanket & lunch.
  • Get patriotic early in the day with Key Biscayne’s 11am July 4th parade. Bring the munchkins to the Village green for an old-school-style parade – floats, marching bands, street entertainers and all.
  • Channel the classics with annual waterfront fireworks shows at Bayfront Park and/or South Beach. Both events feature live music, large crowds and loads of aerial magic.
