Weekly Picks: July 12-16

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Happy Monday morning! Who’s ready to hit the ground running?

  • Get Story Savvy. Miami Munchkins resumes its monthly storytime at Books & Books Bal Harbour this Sunday (July 18) at 12:30pm. Bring the munchkins for an interactive reading of Eeeek, Mouse! arts & crafts and an hour of air conditioned fun. We’re thinking an early lunch, storytime & some serious window shopping. Read, relax and repeat – Miami Munchkins storytime is the first Sunday of every month at Books & Books Bal Harbour.
  • Feel French. Independence Day celebrations continue this week as Wednesday marks Bastille Day, the French equivalent of July 4th. It’s a perfect excuse to channel your inner Francophile – teach the munchkins some basic French (oui, merci, bonjour) then get crafty – we’re thinking Eiffel Towers made of popsicle sticks and French flag collages. Top it all off with a French feast of crusty baguettes, savory crepes and apple tart.
  • Do Good. Record heat and stifling humidity mean we’ve got a whole lot of reasons to stay inside this week – might as well make the best of it. Flip your iPod on, grab a few garbage bags and hit your closets for some summer cleaning. Toss anything that deserves it then pack the gently used clothes, books, toys & accessories into a few bags, make a communal trip to Goodwill and reward yourself with some discounted pampering courtesy of Miami Spa Month.
