Mommy & Me is a great way to meet fellow moms, interact with your kids, begin childhood socialization and get out of the house. Here are some of our favorite classes around town.

Mommy & Me classes are a great way to meet fellow moms, interact with your kids, begin childhood socialization and get out of the house. Options abound in Miami – here are some of our favorites. Most fall sessions begin in late August or early Sept.

Jewish and non-Jewish mommies gather at Miami Beach’s Temple Beth Sholom for its Parent/Child classes. Classes begin at 2 months and go through 3 years. Emphasis is on mommy interaction and progressive childhood development (the final class preps kids for preschool independence). Options include basic mommy & me (lap babies, crawlers, etc), music and gymnastics. All classes are non-denominational. Temple Beth Sholom: 4144 Chase Ave, Miami Beach; 305-538-7231

Free and open to the public, Beth Am’s Tot Shabbat is billed as a weekly “celebration of Shabbat.” Bring kids 7 months to 2 years to the Kendall temple every Friday from 9-10am for music, arts, playtime, stories and a snack. Expect mixed ages, light structure and a different crowd each week. For a more structured option, consider the more traditional Mommy & Me-style Toddler Time program. Or wrangle grandmas into the new weekly Grandma & Me class Wednesdays from 9:30-10:30am. Appropriate for kids 7-24 months. Temple Beth Am: 5950 N Kendall Drive, Pinecrest; 305-667-6667

Gymboree’s Play & Learn classes run from 0-36 months. All classes encourage age-appropriate development, with early ones focusing more on parent discussion & bonding. Later classes feature problem solving games and language development skills. Gym is clean, instructors are friendly and classes are manageably sized. Gymboree: 11845 S Dixie Hwy, Miami, 305-232-3399

Most fall classes start next week. Get ahead of the game with our picks for the best classes in town.

Swimming, music & art – oh my! Fall registration is upon us – most classes start next week. Here are some of our picks for the best classes in town…

Ashlee Cramer’s Miami Children’s Music is a bit legendary around town. Cramer recently opened her own studio in Midtown (across the street from Target) and classes have been packed since day one. Her enthusiasm is inspiring – she’s beading sweat at the end of each 60-minute class. Baby and mixed ages classes are available -complete parental participation is required at both (no chatting here). CDs are given out at the beginning of each semester – expect to spend a lot of time listening to them. Call 305-519-0362.

Miami Children’s Museum’s classes range from music to yoga, but our favorite is Mini Masters of Art. Kids 3 months to 2 years make three projects every week, each inspired by a different master (sculpt like Rodan, paint like Picasso, etc). The variety of projects keep kids & parents engaged – and very messy. Extra bonus – take home a well stocked portfolio at the end of the semester. 305-373-5437 x122.

Spend an hour outside & get one step closer to your pre-baby body courtesy of Baby Boot Camp. Offered weekday mornings at Key Biscayne’s Village Green and Miami Beach’s Flamingo Park, the 75-minute class blends cardio, strength & ab exercises. Make sure to bring your stroller, sunscreen and water. Classes are ongoing. Call 305-299-8385.

Get dad in on the act with Miami Kids Music’s Saturday morning mixed age classes. Part of the national Music Together program, the classes are available in mixed ages & babies only. Mid-week classes are great for stay-at-home parents and/or caretakers. Fall session begins Sept 21.

Head to Pinecrest or Kendall and get wet courtesy of low-key, fun Ocaquatics. Emphasis is on fun and comfort – parents get in the water with kids for 30 minutes as they learn to dunk, paddle around and enjoy the pool. Lots of individual attention, music, songs and the same weekly routines help make kids & parents comfortable. This is not a survival swimming program. Fall term 1 runs Aug 3-Oct 11, term 2 Oct 12-Dec 20. Call 305-969-7946.

Miami moms can feel extra pressure reclaim pre-baby bodies - luckily fitness options abound.

New and experienced moms are well versed in the challenges of reclaiming pre-baby bodies. (Hmm…so I didn’t have 30-pound baby – now what???). This pressure can feel particularly intense in Miami where clothing is minimal and bodies tend to be rock-solid (damn models are everywhere). Luckily, options mommy & me fitness options abound…

Baby Boot Camp brings babies, strollers & moms to Flamingo Park (Miami Beach) and Village Green (Key Biscayne) five mornings a week to build muscle, work up a sweat and tone. Classes are outside (be warned), 75-minutes long and available in Level 1 & 2 options. Prices are moderate (first class is free), the crowd varies and the workout ranges from good to great, depending on your fitness level.

Baby and Me Yoga takes a decidedly more relaxed approach to fitness with 60 minutes of postures, breath work, stretching and meditation. Babies one-month to one-year are welcome. Don’t expect to burn 1000 calories over night, but it’s a fun bonding experience.

Founded by a local personal trainer and fitness instructor, Fitness 4 Families brings mommy & baby fitness classes to Pinecrest. Stroller fitness is 60-minutes of cardio exercises, stretching & strength building with strollers. Designed for all fitness levels, which means beginners will love it and experienced exercisers might be a bit bored.

Forget free towels, childcare is now our favorite gym amenity. Get a real workout (we recommend a personal trainer if you can spring for it), work your butt off & never stray more than a few feet from your baby. Local gyms with childcare: Equinox Coral Gables & Aventura. Know of more? Comment below.

The 2,500-square-foot traveling exhibit features a giant Clifford dog house, Emily Elizabeth’s house & more. Because it’s based closely on the PBS series, it’s best for fans of the show. That being said, any toddler will love to climb through the tunnel, explore the dog house, “drive” the ferry and scamper about the open space. Extra bonus for parents – air conditioning!!!!

Clifford at Miami Children’s Museum: On display through Oct 11. $15 for adults & kids over one year, $12 for Florida residents. Visit MiamiChildrensMuseum.org for more info.
