It’s a happy, haunted week....
- Get Crafty. Now that your pumpkins are picked and polished, time to get the house in the spirit (If you’re still on the pumpkin hunt check out our list of local patches). Start with a super simple Jack-O’-Lantern – grab a paper plate, a glue stick, orange paint & few sheets of yellow & green construction paper. Paint the plate orange, cut out face and leaf shapes from the yellow & green paper and glue away. Hang the masterpieces on the fridge, front door or anywhere between. Looking for a bigger challenge? Click here or here for inspiration.
- Treat Yourself. Forget the candy corn, indulge in a scary cheap salon service. From Tuesday to Sunday, South Beach’s Van Michael Salon (an Aveda salon) is celebrating Halloween with a haircut happy hour – book an appointment with a stylist in the new talents division and get styled for $25 and up. Bring a friend and the second cut is free. Call 305-534-6789 for info & appointments.
- Frolic on Friday. Friday is all about getting a jump start on the holiday madness. From 11am-5pm head to Jungle Island’s Halloween Spooktacular and enjoy trick or treating live music, cookie decorating, arts & crafts and $13 admission ($7 for kids 3-10 in full costume). As the sun sets, hit Grapeland Water Park from 6-10pm for a Family Fright Night featuring trick or treating, a haunted house & an outdoor "Monster House" movie. Or, slip into your kids into costume and venture to Whole Foods Coral Gables for trick or treating, Halloween ping pong, an apple waddle and more. Looking for something scarier? Head to the Gold Coast Railroad Museum for a Spooky Halloween Adventure or the Miami Science Museum for a Haunted House.
- Weekend Plan. Start planning your Saturday now – options abound. The Miami Beach Botanical Gardens is serving up a Family Fun Day while the Miami Children’s Museum presents a Fall Festival and Not So Scary Halloween. Join a neighborhood celebration with Biscayne’s Mimoween, Pinecrest Garden’s Trick or Treating or Aventura’s Halloween Harvest.
